MODELING OF MORPHOMETRIC VARIABLES OF BRAZILIAN PINE (Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) Kuntze) IN SOUTH BRAZIL

LUIS PAULO BALDISSERA SCHORR

In view to regulate the frequency in overstocked forest of Brazilian Pine, this study aimed to verify the morphometric indices and model of the interdimensional relations for Brazilian pine in South Brazil. The study was developed in three forest sites: Panel (PNL), São Joaquim (SJQ) and Urupema (URU). This study evaluated 70 individual trees in each forest site measured the circumference at breast height (CBH) and later transformed to diameter at the breast height (DBH), total height (h), the insertion height of crown (hic) and crown radius, taken in four directions (North, South, East and West). This study modeled the potential crown diameter and thus determined the values of basal area and number of trees per hectare in the forest. The results showed that the change in the intercept of the crown diameter equation indicates the potential production of Brazilian pine in different sites, showing that this tool can be used for forest interventions.
