Physico-chemical Water Quality of Budamada Reservoir for fish Aquaculture Production in East Badawacho District, Southern Ethiopia.

Water quality is essential for the survival and growth of aquatic organisms. This study was aimed assessing the quality of Budamada reservoir for fish aquaculture production at East Badawacho district, Southern Ethiopia. The water samples from Budamada reservoir were collected from February 2019 to July 2019 following the standard laboratory techniques for the analysis of the following physico-chemical parameters: Temperature, pH, Electrical conductivity, Total dissolved solids, Turbidity, and Total hardness. The results showed that mean values of temperature, pH value, Electrical conductivity, Total dissolved solids, Turbidity and Total hardness was (21.43±1.2 0C), (8.59±0.01), (6.23±0.08 μs/cm), (1162mg/l to 1329 mg/l), (3.26±0.15 NTU), and (98.2±0.65 mg/l), respectively. Generally, most of the physico-chemical parameters evaluated in this study were within the range recommended for fish production, which indicates that the physico-chemical characteristics of the Budamada reservoir are suitable for fish production. Constant monitoring is important for better management of the Budamada reservoir.
