Abstract

In this research, we developed a model for investigating the spread of HIV infection, which can result in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), through vertical and horizontal transmissions and introduced the concept of identification program by considering identification rate in heterosexual population which was qualitatively and numerically analyzed. We obtained equilibrium points of the model at two states (infection-free and Endemic). Thereafter, we investigated the criteria for existence of the endemic equilibrium point of the model. We determined local and global dynamics of the steady states of the system using stability theory and computer simulation before concluding.

Key words: Vertical and horizontal transmissions, heterosexual community, asymptotic stability, epidemiological parameters.
