Abstract

Although rare and emerging, Candida bracariensis and Candida nivariensis are two newly described species in the Candida glabrata complex which share similar phenotypic features and could be misdiagnosed. We examined 34 clinical isolates of C. glabratausing a multiplex PCR method for the presence of this newly described cryptic species. All study isolates were confirmed to be C. glabrata and none verified as either C. bracariensis or C. nivariensis.
