Abstract

Membrane fatty acid composition of dam and/or seqA mutants of Salmonella typhimuriumwas investigated for exponential and stationary phase cells. Our results show that by reaching the stationary phase, the lack of dam and seqA genes enhanced the production of cyclic fatty acids (CFA), whereas the wild-type cells produced CFAs normally. Data from this study suggest that the membrane fatty acid composition of these mutants is phase-dependent.
