Seroprevalence of IgM and IgG antibodies of contaminated staff in EHUO Hospital detected by RT-PCR during the COVID-19 pandemic

Anti-SARS-CoV-2 serological tests present a major role in the estimation of the prevalence of Covid-19. The objective was to estimate the prevalence of Covid-19 among staff of University Hospital (EHUO) of Oran (Algeria). The study took place between December 2020 and January 2021 in the pharmacovigilance department, in collaboration with the occupational medicine department of the EHU of Oran, a Serological analysis by rapid tests (VITALCare laboratories) was used to detect and differentiate anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. Among the 823 people who participated in the study, 167 (20%) had a positive RT-PCR, Among the 167 employees who contacted SARS-CoV-2 and tested RT-PCR +; 87% were female, and 13% were male. The age group most affected by COVID-19 was between (30-40 years) followed by (40-50 years). The overweight category (25.01-30) was the most exposed to Covid-19. O + blood grouping was significantly predominant followed by A + grouping. 77% were significantly symptomatic and 23% had no symptoms. The anti-SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence makes it possible to search body immunization against covid-19 among EHUO staff and to organize and promote the campaign of an adequate vaccination for all employees that have a negative IgG antibody.
