The study focused on the professional development and performance of teachers in public secondary school in Delta State. It was guided by two research questions and two hypotheses. The expost facto design was adopted in the study. The population includes 240 teachers from 17 public secondary schools in Sapele Local Government Area and the simple random sampling technique was used to select 100 participants. Questionnaire on a four point Likert Scale dimension was used for data gathering and the Cronbach Apha was use to arrive at 0.79 reliability coefficient. The descriptive statistical procedures employed to answer the research questions were the mean and standard deviation at 2.50 acceptable benchmark. The inferential statistics used to test the hypotheses was the Pearson Product Moment Correlation at 0.05 levels of significance. The findings showed positive relationship between the availability of professional improvement programme and teachers’ productivity. Also, it was revealed that teachers’ participation in professional improvement programmes enhances their job productivity. It is recommended that teachers should regularly improve on themselves and also, qualified teachers should be employed and unqualified ones in the system should be encouraged to go for educational training.
