The Most Important Aspect of Power in the Story of Rostam and Sohrab, Ferdowsi's Poem

Existence of power in human’s life and destiny is undeniable. Different aspects of power have been defined; as some have considered its glorious domain in politics and some others have considered it in wealth and properties. In this article, power and its effect on the heroes’ destiny in Rostam and Sohrab Persian story, composed by Ferdowsi, has been investigated to answer these questions: “What is the most important power domain and what are its consequences on the characters’ destiny?” So, based on a descriptive-analytic method, conclusions as the following are drawn: the crucial aspect of power in this tragedy is possession: men’s possession over women, father’s possession over the child and the possession of the king over people’s lives.
