This study examines the intermediary role of information professionals among information sources, information systems and user, and how it affects the job schedules of librarians, Archivists and Manuscript Curators. The environment in which librarian work is changing. The population of study comprises of professionals and students in Ekiti State University Ado Ekiti. Total enumeration sampling technique was used for the study. Thus, professionals and students (100) were selected for sampling and descriptive survey was adopted for the study using questionnaire as the main instrument of data collection. However, a total number of 80 copies of the questionnaire were returned, thus giving a response rate of 80%. The findings revealed that 75% of the respondent agreed that librarian performs functions like training, assist people with disabilities with the use of computer while 25% disagree. 100% of the respondents agreed that resources can be available in the library but may not be accessed by the user 87.5% representing majority of the respondents agreed that index is an information source that is used by the information professional while the least that disagree is 12.5%. Furthermore, 87.5% of the respondents agreed that information professionals are intermediaries between information users and information sources while 12.5% disagreed. 87.5% of the respondents agreed that information professional are not necessarily librarians. The study concluded by recommending that the purpose of establishing a library which is to facilitate access to information must be realized. Librarians must be recruited to ensure work is been done in the professional way and Archivists must continue to manage the active and inactive records at their disposal for future use.
