Multistage sampling was used to select 120 respondents from the study area and a well-interview schedule was used to collect data from the respondents. The data collected was analyzed with descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean) for the socio-economic characteristics of the respondents and the challenges hindering cassava production, Data analysis to estimate the cost and returns of cassava production in using improved technology, multiple linear regression to determine the factors influencing cassava production. The major challenges hindering the production of cassava production using improved technology in the study area were cost of fertilizer and herbicide, low technical knowhow of some improved technology, poor market, inadequate extension contact. Insufficient inputs, lack of credit facilities, pests and diseases and problem of land acquisition. It was recommended that the government should provide soft loans to cassava producers so as to reduce the problem of insufficient funds.
