This paper aims to analyze what foreigners should know about Korean organizational culture. It identifies six cultural factors which are dominant within Korean society in general, and in Korean working or educational organizations in particular. These six factors are “Ppalli Ppalli†Culture, Collectivism (Jibdanjueu), Being part of the Group (Uri), Hierarchy, Euphemistic Communication, and Environment reading and Self-Learning (Nunchi). Especially, foreigners must be mindful of these cultural elements in their daily routines in Korea. The paper also explores employee socialization practices in Korean organizations. The result of the paper showed that Korean organization mainly follows collective, formal, sequential, fixed, serial, and divestiture techniques of employee socialization. However, often Korean organizations use social activities as a means of employee socialization. Among others, employees get together (dining and drinking) is the most practiced employee socialization method. However recently, group traveling, cinema and theater, exhibitions, hiking, etc become famous as an instrument of socialization. Moreover, the paper finds out that socialization in Korean organizations is not the responsibility of the organization: it is an employee’s responsibility too.
