Evaluation on the application of immobilized konkoli (Maesopsis eminii) immobilized leaves for the removal of Pb2+, Cd2+ and Zn2+ in aqueous solution
Calcium alginate immobilized konkoli leaves (KIL) was studied as a bio-sorbent for the sorption of Pb2+, Cd2+ and Zn2+ in aqueous solution. The sorption capacities for Pb2+, Cd2+ and Zn2+ were found to be 98.52, 90.1 and 81.34% respectively. The sorption behavior with respect to contact time, initial pH, ionic strength and initial metal ion concentration were investigated in order to determine...

Comparative study of two kalanchoe species: Total flavonoid and phenolic contents and antioxidant properties
The research was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of two Kalanchoespecies in Ghana which are used widely for the treatment of various ailments including stroke and ulcers. The leaves were subjected to methanol and aqueous extractions for each sample. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) was performed to determine the various components in the leaves extract. The concentration of phenol and flavonoid...

Evaluation of phytochemical and antimicrobial potentials of roots, stem-bark and leaves extracts of Eucalyptus camaldulensis
The extracts for phytochemical screening and antimicrobial activity were carried out on dried powdered leaves, stem-bark and roots of Eucalyptus camaldulensis using ethanol and water as solvent. The results of the phytochemical screening showed that the plant parts contained saponins, tannins, phenols and glycosides. The disc diffusion method was adopted for the antimicrobial activity of the plant extracts....
