Objectives : Myxomas are the most common form of benign cardiac tumors. We present here a successful surgical treatment of congolese patients operate in Morocco. The aim of this study was to present successful south-south medical cooperation. Patients and methods: It’s a retrospective study, between June 2011 and December 2019, congolese patients with cardiac myxomas were operated in International University Hospital Cheikh Zaid of Rabat. Variables analyzed were; epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic. Results: There were twelve patients, with 8 left atrium myxoma and 4 in right atrium. The average age was 38 ± 4.5 years, and female gender was predominant. In four cases, myxomas were findings at echocardiography, but the remain 8 patients had different symptoms; dominated by asthenia in 50%. The diagnosis of myxoma has been well established by trans thoracic echocardiography. Myxoma approach vary according to the site of implantation, in our study Sondergaard approach was the principal way. Mean cardiopulmonary time was 49 ± 2.5 min, and mean aortic cross clamp time was 24 ± 1.5 min. In four cases, associated procedures have been used; dominated by DEVEGA technique. In postoperative course, we noted one case of mild mitral regurgitation. Conclusion: Cardiac myxomas are characterized by clinical polymorphism , and remain classical emergency with low operative risk, even in developing countries. But our governments must help develop local skills, to reduce high cost of surgical treatment abroad.
