Ilorin is blessed with numerous Islamic scholars who engaged in Da’wah activities (call to Islam). The intense Da’wah activities earned Ilorin the proverbial title of Ilu Afa (the seat of erudite Muslim scholars). The adherence to Islamic principles and religious proselytization are major challenges confronting Islamic scholars. Sheikh Alfanla Okutagidi, a man of religious principle triumph amidst this confronting challenges. Sheikh Alfanla Okutagidi Da’wah activities in Ilorin was prominent in spite of the involvement of other numerous scholars in the field. The objectives are to provides a background account on the history of Islam and Islamic scholars in Ilorin; to examines the early childhood and career of Sheikh Alfanla Okutagidi, while the last objective concentrates on the Sheikh Okutagidi’s Da’wah activities in Ilorin. In achieving these objectives, historical methodology approach is adopted which relies on primary and secondary sources of data. Sheikh Alfanla Okutagidi indisputably as one of the actors of the reformist Islam in Ilorin, through his war against the paganist influence the study. Sources adopted in the work were oral interviews, published and unpublished work which consist of primary and secondary sources of history.
