Globalization denotes co-operation and interdependence among the independent nations of the world. Because of colonialism, neo-colonialism and the contemporary controversial globalization, Nigerians now tend to sacrifice their cultural values and inheritance on the altar of been Westernized and Americanized. Nigeria is a country with rich cultural values. Though there are variation in Nigerian culture, there also exist commonalities which bind the people together thereby giving room for unity in diversity. With dismay, it has been noticed that Nigerian’s once cherished cultural values are on the threshold of extinction. Hence, the concern of this paper is to investigate effects of this ugly trend and to proffer workable solutions. Three concepts are central to the main discourse of this paper and they are globalization, Nigeria, and cultural values. For better comprehension of the article, those concepts were adequately conceptualized. The study recommends among others that through recorded documentary films and televising, Nigerian cultural values and enculturation can be effectively sustained.
