North Shoans began their strife against the Italians as soon as the latter entered in the area. Furthermore, the area was the first of the country’s part to spark of the opposition movement. The resistance movement had been intensified a matter of five years of Italian occupation (1936-1941). It was based on the idea of restoring national independence and preserving cultural identity. This paper, therefore, attempts to address the nature of the war between the North Shoan patriots and the Italians. The Research design of the paper is qualitative type. Oral information had been gathered from oral informants, patriots and patriots’ family by going to North Shoa and other areas where they are living. Archives collected from Association of Ethiopian Patriots (AEP), National Archive and Library Agency (NALA) and Institute of Ethiopian Studies (IES). During the study some of the profile of the patriots’ have tear, lost and have no year and page. Mainly, the Field research in the study was challenging for the reason that the topography of North Shoa is rugged and mountainous. The remoteness of the period under the study was another problem dealing with oral informants that forced them to give second hand information, questionable on its accuracy, or tradition that they were not eye witness.
