Biological diversity helps in the formation and maintenance of hydrology, atmosphere and lithological factors of the environment as a unique unit. The analysis of biodiversity makes use of the vegetation species and ecosystem diversity of the Kirala Kele wetland area except genetic diversity. This research focuses on revealing the environmental importance of the biodiversity of the partial-nature-based wetland in Kirala Kele for the development activities. The study applies the field survey research strategy with limited qualitative findings in order to accomplish the objectives. The Quadrate Method and Remote Sensing mapping techniques were used for the identification of abundance and dominancy of vegetation types in the plots of wetland vegetation. The biodiversity factor was determined by the seven indicators and then the criterion of the biodiversity was classified based on the distance from the sensitive areas using Euclidean Distance Analysis of Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques. Identified biodiversity plots were assigned into four classes as high, moderate, marginal and low diversity. The highly suitable area with the appropriate combination of biodiversity can be used for development activities based on the ecotourism.
