Libraries promote reading and research which are processes that could lead to transformation of the society. The place where these knowledge enterprises takes place must therefore be a dynamic environment that can accommodate new ideas and inventions, foster adaptation of technologies and encourage cross fertilization of ideas. The study examined the issue of creativity and innovation in Nigerian libraries (School and Academic) as essential tools for patronage and relevance. Creativity and innovation make the libraries attractive to users. Creative developments like makerspaces allow the students to develop vocational skills. Through creativity and innovation, librarians can create innovative spaces for students to enhance their learning process and nurture their imagination. There is therefore a compelling need to twist knowledge with a view to repackaging and rebranding libraries. Librarians are a change agent. They can use their ingenuity to shape traditional library services like secretarial services, bindery services , research common, crèche, training sessions and telephone booth into creative activities that will provide opportunity for both staff and students to be creative, innovative and explore new ideas. These new approach could be used to attract users and stimulate learning. This paper looked at the various ways of bringing innovations to provision of library services to children and students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This becomes very crucial when patronage of the library is on the decline. Bringing creativity and innovation to libraries implies that librarians will have to be proactive and constantly update their knowledge to grasp the emerging trends in library services provision. This could be done through attendance of conferences, Symposia, library visits, extensive reading and interactions with people.
