This study is an attempt to find out the factors that affects library usage by university students in south east geopolitical zone of Nigeria, the main objective however, is to ascertain if factors like conducive environment, relevant textbook, awareness etc., have any significant relationship with the level of library usage. Primary data was employed in the study, with a reliability coefficient of 0.78, the data was however subjected to both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that factors like examination, conducive environment, awareness etc has a significant influence on library usage, and however factors like gender, educational background of parents etc., were not found to have any significant influence on library usage. It was therefore recommended that Academic Libraries in the south east of Nigeria should always organize induction courses for the new students for familiarity. Academic libraries should also make effort to see that the libraries have internet connection, as not every student in Nigeria is able to afford subscription every time. The academic libraries in south east should make effort to create awareness for students to be aware of the services rendered by the library.
