About ISABB-JFAS

The ISABB Journal of Food and Agricultural Sciences (ISABB-JFAS) is a peer reviewed journal that publishes research articles in all areas of food and agricultural sciences. The journal is owned by the International Society of African Biotechnologists and Bioscientists. The journal is published by Academic Journals
 
Several years ago, few African Scientists in United States met and started ISABB (www.isabbio.org) with the mission to organize African Bioscientists & Biotechnologists in the Diaspora, to become change agents in matters regarding Research and Development (R&D) in Africa. So many international students from Africa migrate to western nations for postgraduate studies every year and are unable to go back to their countries after graduation because of persistent economic hardships and little or no research infrastructure in their countries of origin. The implication of this trend is braindrain, which deprives Africa of the very natural resources needed to address its economic woes. Many skilled scientists of African origin are scattered all over the world, especially in the western world, where they  have continued to do cutting-edge research with a desperate wish that someday they will be able to give back to Africa. Unfortunately, there is a lack of an effective forum for the exchange of ideas and a mechanism to harness the capabilities of African researchers in the biotech and biosciences to address specific problems pertinent to the continent. Cognizant of this vacuum, the ISABB was initiated to encourage free exchanges among African scientists in the diaspora (living outside the African continent) and in the cutting-edge fields, with the hope that the interactions would result in collaborations that would promote research and development on the continent. ISABB also, is a platform for non-African Scientists to invest their resources and time into the development of R&D in the African continent.
 
Maintain a current annual directory of ISABB members, including their institutions, and professional specialization
 
Facilitate dissemination of scientific information and technology through publications, seminars and international conferences
 
Promote research and collaboration among African scientists and between African Scientists and other scientists worldwide
 
Foster high standards of education through the establishment of exchange and mentoring programs involving educational institutions on the continent and those participating institutions or organizations abroad
 
Promote and support high standards of professional ethics among members and those participating with ISABB
 
Promote the use of ISABB scientists as reviewers and panelists by funding agencies and governments seeking to aid developmental activities, involving the areas emphasized, throughout the African continent, and
 
Cooperate with other organizations with similar objectives.
 
There are six Divisions within ISABB and each Division is coordinated by a committee of accomplished African scholars in the Diaspora who have demonstrated excellence in the field of studies represented by the Division of interest. The Divisions within ISABB are:

Membership is growing as more African life scientists (in Africa and in the Diaspora) learn about ISABB. There is a strong appreciation for the fact that ISABB is an international scientific organization for professionals. It is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization based with secure infrastructure in the United States of America and mobilizing African life scientists in the Diaspora.  This important bridge will support research and development in the African continent.  Every summer ISABB scientists travel to Africa with young adults of African descent in the medical profession to provide free medical care to very poor people in remote villages in the continent (Visit us at http://isabbcommhealth.org to see the video of ISABB medical outreach to Nigeria in the summer of 2010).

Manuscript Handling Fee
Authors are required to pay the manuscript handling fee only after their manuscripts have been reviewed and accepted for publication by an editor.
The manuscript handling fee for ISABB-JFAS is $750 (USD).
