Abstract

The aim of this study is to grade the severity of gallbladder diseases using the Gallbladder Emptying Rate (GBER), which could indicate a rational treatment algorithm. The study design composed of five patients with gallbladder diseases, whose parameters were compared with a previous study of fifty healthy volunteers. Cholecystodynamic parameter (GBER) was derived by ultrasound assessment of gallbladder volumes during fasting and comparing it with post-prandial volumes obtained 20 min after an oral administration of 165 mls of cream milk. This model proposed 3 grades of gallbladder diseases among the patients studied. This proposed model could help in the grading of disease severity and management of gallbladder diseases.
