Exotic flora of the Banaras Hindu University Main Campus, India

Abstract

The exotic flora of the main campus of Banaras Hindu University, India, spreading over 1,300 acres of land area, was analyzed. A total of 183 exotic plant species are reported from the university campus, represented by 149 genera and 58 families. The flora of American origin dominates the exotic floristic composition of the university. The Fabaceae, Asteraceae and Poaceae are the dominant families of the exotic flora of the Banaras Hindu University campus.
