Efforts were made in this present study to establish a relationship between physico-chemical characteristics in grassland soils that were differentially located and whose soils were put to different usages. Thus, physic-chemical analyses were carried out on grassland soils of Ogbole Ogume and Abbi in Ndokwa West Local Government Areas of Delta State, Nigeria. The soils were collected at the margin, centre and 10m away from the end of the grasslands at a depth of about 10.30m from the soil surface. Soil characteristics as pH, Mg, Ca, Na, K and Electrical conductivity were analyzed. Others were CEC, Soâ‚„, P, N, clay, silt and sand contents. They were analysed following standard methods. At the margins, soils from Ogbole Ogume and Abbi contained 94.5% and 91.0% sand, at the center; it was 93.0% sand for both study sites while 10m beyond the grasslands were 93.0% and 90.0% sand for Ogbole Ogume and Abbi. Comparatively, physic-chemical parameters analysed showed variations between the two sites. Parameters like pH, Mg, Ca, K, CEC, P and N were higher in Abbi than Ogbole Ogume. This indicates that cultivation of crops at Abbi grassland soils must have impacted seriously on the physic-chemical properties as compared to Ogbole Ogume.
