Bibliographic survey of articles on the importance of school vegetable gardens in basic education

The implementation of the use of educational vegetable gardens in primary schools, belongs basics agricultural educational sciences and their interdisciplinarities. Have great advantages in the didactic-pedagogic area, but also major problems related to the construction, development and maintenance. Thus, in view of the low amount of scientific production in the area, and the positivities that the use of vegetable gardens in schools can generate. This article was produced with the general objective of conducting a bibliographic survey between the years 2009 to 2019, adding ten years of articles in periodicals most relevant to the research topic on the use of school vegetable gardens, with specific objectives to describe, analyze and represent, separating into two themes more deeply dealt with, related to the pedagogical practice of the use of vegetable gardens in basic education, and especially in encouraging a healthier diet and a balanced diet. The methodological forms of selection of articles was performed by time, theme and publications in journals with literary-reflective analysis within a qualitative research of the collected articles, in order to represent all relevant issues related to research and the use of vegetables gardens in schools. Therefore, the use of pedagogical teaching was verified and analyzed in two main aspects related to the teaching of the didactic-scientific part, as well as a healthier diet, but that also worked on other teachings related to environmental education, values and concepts of citizenship, of way to conclude on the great importance of using school vegetable gardens as a teaching tool.
