Oil palm plants are a superior commodity in South Sumatra Province. The area of oil palm plantations in South Sumatra reaches 10.78% of the total area of oil palm plantations in Indonesia. The development of oil palm cultivation impacts on the emergence of plant disturbing insects (S. nitens). This causes losses for oil palm farmers. Therefore, the solution to this problem is required. A relatively safe alternative to control it is to use toxic compounds from plants called biopesticides (plant-based insecticides). The plant-based insecticide used was the extract of duku pericarp (L. domesticum Corr.). The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of duku pericarp extract as a biopesticide and to see the response of the development of the nettle caterpillar after the extract. This research used a bioassay experiment method. The results showed that duku pericarp extract has the potential as a biopesticide. Duku pericarp extract gives a positive response to the development of nettle caterpillar. The treatment of duku pericarp extract (L. domesticum Corr) toward netter caterpillar (Setora nitens) significantly affected the motion and death activity of caterpillar, where Fcount> Ftable (3,862> 3,24; α 0.05). The concentration that gives a positive effect is the treatment of K3 concentration (75%). With the fastest death rate at the concentration of K4 (100%).Duku pericarp extract had a significant effect on motion activity and death of nettle caterpillar.
