Enset ventricosum is a multipurpose food security crop that is widely cultivated in the south and southwestern Ethiopia. It serves as a staple food for 20 million people in Ethiopia. It plays a vital role in emergency food security, income generation, and environmental conservation. This study was carried out in Dawuro Zone by using a multi-stage sampling technique to select respondents and collect data from 152 producers, 57 traders, and 66 consumers, respectively. SPSS-20 was used to run descriptive statistics; while STATA-13 software was employed to run econometric models, where market participation and outlet choice were used as a dependent variable to analyze factors affecting market participation. The result indicated that distance to market and family size influenced farmers' market participation negatively at a 10% significance level, while education, quantity produced, consumer preference, transport facility, and price has positively supported farmers' market participation at 1% significance level. The result of the multivariate probit model also indicated that outlet choices were significantly influenced by farmers' age, education, distance to market, extension contact, labor availability, and price. Similarly, Wald χ2 result was significant at 1%, indicating that the choice of market outlets was biased, and the decision to choose alternative outlets were interdependent. As a recommendation, the local administration should improve rural infrastructure and should support smallholder farming productivity through improved technology, market information, and farmer associations
