Germination, Vigour Index and Yield Potential of Wheat as Affected by Micronutrients

An experiment was conducted to study germination, vigour index and yield potential of wheat as affected by micronutrients. The experiment consisted of two factors i) three modern wheat varieties viz. Prodip, Shatabdi and Bijoy and ii) six levels of nutrient management viz. control (T0), NPK (T1), NPK+B+Mn+Zn (T2), NPK+B+Mn (T3), NPK+B+Zn (T4) and NPK+Mn+Zn (T5). Prodip produced significantly the highest grain yield (3.93 t ha-1) followed by Shatabdi (3.39 t ha-1) and Bijoy (2.68 t ha-1). The highest grain yield (4.32 t ha-1) was recorded from T2 and the lowest one (1.11 t ha-1) from the control treatment. The highest grain yield (4.78 t ha-1) was obtained from Prodip at T2 and the lowest one was found in Bijoy at T0 (control). Qualitative characters of wheat were significantly influenced by variety and nutrient management. Germination (%) and vigour index showed the highest value in Prodip. In nutrient management highest germination (%) was obtained from T2 but the vigour index was highest at T4. The combination of V1 (Prodip with NPK+B+ Mn+Zn) is the best for obtaining higher yield of wheat but the T4 (NPK+B+Zn) is the best for producing more vigorous seed.
