This study attempts to analyze macro consequences of international donor organizations’ intervention in observed African states in terms of agricultural loan volumes. Particularly, I studied how international donor organizations’ assistance to agricultural sector in African states gave impetus of the agricultural credit expansion. My hypothesis is based on the demand following theory of Patrick (1966) that is explained afterwards. Statistical analyses showed whether donors’ role was significant in issuing agricultural loans on country level or other factors were more important. Country level analyses try to answer following research question: What effect has international donor organizations’ intervention in agricultural sector on countries’ agricultural lending in terms of volume? Selected country specific variables were used for empirical analyses. Results show that international donor organizations have negative impact on African countries’ agricultural lending volume.
Keywords: International donor organizations, aggregate agricultural lending.
