In a city like Bangalore, where the population is high, settlements are congested and thus every nook and cranny of the city is occupied by residences, businesses etc. During rainfall, the low-lying areas become flooded. This poses a risk towards life and property of the people living in such areas. During rainy season this catastrophe can be manages as the authorities would be well prepared and take necessary action. But, during the other seasons, when rainfall is unexpected, there is a risk of life. In this research work Yeshwanthpura is selected as study area. Thankfully, there are methods by which the rainfall can be predicted. Statistical methods like extrapolation and graphical methods of moving average curves have been used in this paper to predict the unconditional rainfall of this region. This work helps to classify the rainfall type and to analyze its characteristics.
