Pennissetum glaucum L. the poaceae family used to be grown under monocroping conditions where its succeeding yield in the same field is severely affected because of self toxicity. The present study was conducted to evaluate the self-toxic effect of P. gluacum (seeds and whole plant extracts) on its growth rate. It came out that pearl millet growth was enhanced by 5% of its aquous extract but significantly affected at higher concentrations. Pearson correlation was used, it was once determined that 5% of both seeds and whole plants extract showed positive linear correlation while negative linear relation was noticed at 10 and 15% extracts.(p< 0.01). It was seen that root length of bajra possessed highest inhibitory effect by the action of seeds and whole plant extracts in comparision to shoot length. On comparison of both extracts, seeds extract was found to be more potent than that of entire plant extract. .From the current studies, it was revealed that bajra is an allelopathic plant and can induce inhibitory effect on the other growing plants as well as, it has the ability to induce autotoxic effects.
