The present study was Candida albicans identification from oral swabs of immunocompramised patients for further reference. A total of 38 oral swabs from the oral thrush patients were collected and inoculated on Sabourauds dextrose agar for primary isolation. After appearance of the colonies on SDA, individual colony is tested for identification of different species of candida albicans on the basis of biochemical and assimilation test. Further species identification was done by plating on chrom agar candida medium. The prevalence of oral candidiasis and frequency of isolation of Candida species and its distribution between the sexes were determined. Of the total of 38 samples, 71 % was Candida albicans and 29 % comprises Non Candida albicans. In conclusion, this study characterized oral C.albicans strains isolated from oral thrush patients and will contribute to a better understanding of the pathogenesis of oral candidiasis.
